Portsmouth will be at the centre of the UK’s national commemorations for D-Day 80 this June, with various events taking place on Southsea Common a few steps from our Southsea terminal. D-Day 80: The National Commemorative Event
- Wednesday 5th June - 11:00 to 13:00 at Southsea Common
This ticketed event will see tributes to those who took part in the Normandy landings in June 1944. Featuring veterans stories, military music and RAF flypast. The event is due to be televised on BBC One.

- Wednesday 5th June - 20:30 to 22:00 at Southsea Common
This ticketed event will include a community vigil to fallen allied soldiers, including a live broadcast from the Bayeux War Cemetery in France. Plus live music performances and moving testimony from those who were there. The event is also due to be televised on BBC One.
Portsmouth's Armed Forces Day
- Saturday 8th June - 10:00 to 16:00 at Southsea Common
This free event will finalise the D-Day 80 celebrations and will include a full Red Arrows display across the Solent. Plus Royal Navy parachute jump, military parades, vehicles and live music.

Proms at the Kings
- Sunday 9th June - 17:30 - 20:00 at Kings Theatre
The event will be hosted by ITV’s Matt Teale and will feature Eastenders star Emma Barton along with The Kings Theatre Choir and The 40 Piece Kings Theatre Orchestra, with various tributes and readings. Expect an evening of powerful music, songs and words that commemorate this decisive day in history and the people that were part of it.
